At Grandma the Spice Girl's

Intended for the season: all year round, preferably spring-summer

Calendar: sowing March - May

Grandma Spice: Teacher

Materials: various types of spices (live and dried), sachets, herbal teas, herbal syrups, sowing containers, soil for sowing, plant seeds, shovels, jugs of water, project markings, markings for individual species

The children will visit a grandmother who is a spice grower, who will introduce them to spices and herbs from her garden. She will show them how to care for herbs, how they grow, and how to get to know each other with the help of books. She will let the children taste and smell each herb to help them remember it better. Together they will show each other how to make a compress from herbs and make herbal tea (e.g. mint).

The children, together with the teacher, will sow herb seeds in the seeding containers. They will label the seeding containers with pictures so that they know where they have sown what. They will observe and care for the small herbs every day. The grown plants will be transplanted into large flower pots, which they will place together in the school garden. The grown herbs will be used as spices in the school kitchen or the children can take them home to their mothers. Emphasis on the importance of herbs for human health (production of medicines and remedies, teas, etc.)

Task for children: bring any herb or product containing herbs from home (tea, candy, etc.)
