Plants breathe for us - houseplants
Intended for the period: all year round
The aim of the project is to explain to children why it is good to surround themselves with plants at home, in kindergarten, in the office, etc. Emphasize that this is not only an aesthetic aspect, but also a health one. However, allergy sufferers must be careful - for them, flowering plants are usually taboo, but they will use non-flowering ones.
The teachers will walk the entire kindergarten with the children and look at the flowers there, what condition they are in, and they will tell the children how and who takes care of the flowers in the kindergarten. The children can share about replanting houseplants in the kindergarten. Explain the importance of fertilization. If there are no live flowers in the kindergarten, the teachers can use one of the books about houseplants. The children should also learn that some species are poisonous, that they should not be licked, etc. The children will try to root a leaf (ficus, African violet, cyndapus) and watch how it takes root and then how it grows. The children can keep the rooted new plant in the kindergarten or take it home and take care of it at home.
Task for children: count how many types of plants they have at home and show in a picture which ones they like the most, draw who takes care of the plants at home. Draw a decorative sign for their favorite houseplant.
